Requesting Accommodations on National Exams
Accommodations for national testing are very different from accommodations provided on state assessments and in the classroom. Families must initiate the process to request accommodations for national exams, and the process varies between the two major exam organizations - ACT and The College Board (which administers the PSAT, SAT, and AP Exams).
ACT Accommodations
For the ACT exam, a need for accommodations must be indicated during the registration process for a specific test. Once registered, you will receive an email prompting you to take further action, which includes forwarding the email to your school official, along with the completed ACT Consent Form. Please forward the necessary items to Amy.Wagner@KellerISD.net
Please visit the ACT Accommodations website for more information.
College Board Accommodations (PSAT, SAT, AP)
To be eligible to request accommodations for national exams, students must meet one of the following requirements:
- Have an identified disability and 504 plan or IEP, and receive and routinely utilize the requested accommodations on classroom tests.
- Be an English Learner (EL) as identified state and federal policy. (Please note that EL supports are only available for the PSAT 8/9, PSAT 10, and SAT School Day assessments. Click here for more information.)
Accommodation requests for College Board exams may take several weeks, so it is important to begin the process early. Once a student has been approved for College Board accommodations, those accommodations will be applied to all future College Board exams.
Accommodation Request Deadlines:
-
Fall PSAT School Day - August 23, 2024

To submit a request for College Board accommodations, complete the steps below.
- Download and complete the following items:
- Parent Consent Form
- Teacher Survey Form
- For the highest chance of success on having accommodations approved, it is best to have the Teacher Survey Form completed by each of the student's core content teachers, if possible. It may be necessary to request information from the previous school year's teachers if submitting a request early in the school year.
- Fill out the College Board Accommodations Request form.
- Return completed Parent Consent Form and Teacher Survey Form(s) to Ms. Wagner in the AP Office or email to Amy.Wagner@KellerISD.net
Once the items above have been completed, your request will be submitted to College Board with two school days. You will be notified via email once your request has been reviewed by College Board and a decision has been made. Any approved accommodations will be provided on all subsequent College Board exams a student takes during their high school career.
